For the third consecutive Friday, no prayers allowed at Jamia Masjid
Srinagar: For the third consecutive Friday, congregational prayers were not allowed at the historic Jamia Masjid.
The Joint Resistance Leadership had called for peaceful protests against the ‘killing spree in Kashmir’. This is the 16th Friday this year when prayers were not allowed in the mosque.
In a tweet Mirwaiz said:
آج لگاتار تیسراجمعہ اور امسال 16واں جمعہ جامع مسجد میں نماز جمعہ کی اجازت نہیں،نظربندی کا 20 واں دن ،ایک طرف ہمارے نوجوانوں کوچن چن کر مارا جارہا ہے دوسری جانب طاقت کے بل پر مذہبی حقوق بھی سلب، ظلم کے خلاف آواز اٹھانے اور احتجاج کرنے پر بھی پابندی pic.twitter.com/iZElmpaUx0

According to reports, authorities have laid barricades and deployed armed forces to prevent movement and congregation at the mosque.
All the entry points leading to the mosque has been sealed, police question bystanders who attempt move towards the mosque. Shops and other business establishments remained shut. Traffic both public and private has been diverted to other areas.
