Srinagar: Hailing the efforts by the participants of an annual Arba’een walk from Najaf to Karbala to commemorate the martyrdom of one of the Islam’s most prominent leadership figures, Hussain Ibn Ali, the grandson of the Last Prophet, wherein they had raised slogans and placards ‘in favor of the freedom struggle’, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani said that Muslim Ummah is like a single body and if any part of the body is in pain whole body feels and expresses it, Kashmir News Service (KNS) reported.

Arba’een is considered as one of the largest annual gatherings that take place in the world, attracting millions.

In October, participants from aforementioned countries had staged silent protests and raised slogans in Arabic and Persian, which read, ‘O God help the people of Kashmir’, and ‘Kashmir is not alone’.

In a statement issued to KNS, Geelani said that any individual with the human heart anywhere can sympathize with a nation forces in the chains of slavery. He said that this is encouraging and very supportive for our movement and we sincerely thanks all those who stood by us in this need of an hour, when world biggies are busy in death and destruction all around particularly of Muslim nations through their stooges and puppets.

He said every freedom loving person, no matter what ethnicity, religion or region he belongs to, is ambassador for our movement and he or she should act as a voice for our agony and atrocities in the world forums to expose the brute and mutilated face of so-called Indian democracy of which every nook and corner of Jammu and Kashmir stands as a documentary proof.

On Wednesday, Chairman Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Mohd Ashraf Sehrai expressed his gratitude to the silent protests against ‘the oppression in Kashmir’.

He urged the entire Muslim community in the world ‘to shun political, strategic and economic expediencies and to continue supporting us at this point in time, when we are facing the worst kind of outrageous atrocities by Indian occupational forces’. He also urged the community to highlight the region’s rights and plights on every occasion.

This comes after a slave of killings were reported in the previous month, with the recently concluded Municipal polls recording victory for the BJP in four south Kashmir districts.

The killings included slain scholar-turned-militants, Mannan WaniSabzar Sofi, and recent civilian killings in the Kulgam carnage, which led to widespread condemnation from resistance leaders and intense clashes throughout the region.
