Srinagar: A civilian who had been abducted in Shopian district of south Kashmir by suspected militants was released on Tuesday with a bullet injury in his leg.

Pervaiz Ahmad had been abducted from his native Batmuran village Monday evening at around 7:30 pm.

The injured civilian has been rushed to SMHS hospital in Srinagar for treatment.

Seven persons were abducted from last week and two of them killed by militants allegedly for tipping off armed forces about the presence of militants. Of them, five were released.

On Thursday, 18-year-old Nadeem Manzoor had been abducted from Safanagri village of Shopian followed by a video showing a boy wearing Kashmiri traditional Pheran being questioned, in Kashmiri language. The video shows the killing of Nadeem, accused of being an informer by the militants, and allegedly responsible for killing of two militants in a recent encounter in Shopian.

On Friday, the Police Media Centre had also issued a statement about the abduction and killing Nadeem.

After the killing militants released another video, in which Nadeem was seen being questioned, along with another Zahoor Ahmad Dar. Nadeem was seen accepting that he informed the armed forces about the presence of militants.

On Saturday morning, three more civilians were abducted from Sadipora village of Shopian. Among them one Huzaif Kutay was killed, while others were released by militants.

According to a police official, unidentified gunmen had abducted three civilians from a bakery in south Kashmir’s District Shopian. The official identified the abductees as Shahid Ahmad Ganie, Farooq Ahmad – both residents of Saidpora Payeen, and Huzaif Ahmad Kutay of Manzgam.

A video showing a masked man decapitating Huzaif was also released on social media.

On Saturday afternoon two civilians Hakib Javid and Ishfaq Ahmad were abducted from Memendar. They were, however, set free during the night.
