‘Digidhan Yatra’: HDFC Bank launches awareness van to travel across Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar: HDFC Bank today launched a first of its kind, digi-Van, displaying pictures and videos near its branch office at MS Mall, Residency Rd Lal Chowk to ‘promote banking’ across the valley.

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, along with Zubair Iqbal, Senior Vice President – HDFC BANK Ltd, in presence of customers and other senior bank officials inaugurated the van that will ply on rural areas of J&K, displaying an educational film.

‘Digidhan Yatra’ is an educational film created by the bank to raise awareness on the dangers of borrowing money from the unorganised sector, particularly in rural areas.

This film has been launched under the aegis of Swachh Banking, the Bank’s latest Corporate Social Responsibility initiative.

“The Van will cover 70 villages across Kupwara, Handwara, Sopore, Baramulla, Magam, Ganderbal, Budgam, Pampore, Akhnoor, Katra, R S Pora, Kathua, Udhampur and Samba,” the bank officials told Free Press Kashmir.

“There are areas in Kashmir where people have no idea of what banking is and do not have bank accounts. The purpose of this van is to spread awareness among the targeted unaware people,” said Owais Rehman, Cluster Head, HDFC Bank.

“No other bank here is doing this,” he added.

According to a presser issued by the bank, the Swachh Banking, aims to create a better understanding about clean and convenient banking available through the organised sector.

According to the presser DC Shah congratulated the bank for making initiatives that aim for common good of the public and state at large.

Iqbal, Zonal Head of the bank is quoted to have said, “at HDFC Bank we believe in creating the real financial inclusion by extending knowledge on banking products and services across deep geos. ”
