Indian Assembly elections: Congress beats BJP in three states, emerges single largest party in MP with 114 seats

In a historic move, Indian mainstream party Congress secured a stronghold in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, ousting ruling party BJP in the Assembly elections said to play a large role in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Congress formed an absolute majority in Chhattisgarh, whereas in MP, it emerged as the single largest party with 114 seats, and are set to stake a claim to the state’s Governor at noon today to form the government. In Rajasthan, the party could not form a majority since it was short of two seats.
