Pulwama gunfight aftermath: Another civilian succumbs, death toll seven

Srinagar: The civilian death toll in Pulwama has mounted to seven after a youth identified as Touseef Ahmad Mir son of Asadullah Mir of Urchersoo Pulwama, succumbed to his injuries. 

Eyewitnesses said that armed forces fired indiscriminately at the civilians who were protesting the killings of three local militants in a gunfight earlier in Kharpora village of the district.

Doctors at district hospital Pulwama confirmed that six dead bodies were received at the hospital. “All the six were declared brought dead,” they said.

Doctors identified the slain civilians as Suhail Ahmad of Bellow, Shahnawaz of Monghama, Liyaqat of Parigam, Abid Ahmad of Kareemabad, Amir Ahmad of Ashmandar and Aqib Ahmad of Prichoo Pulwama.

Meanwhile, Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah while reacting to the civilian killings in Pulwama has said that it was a ‘badly executed encounter’.

Mirwaiz Omar Farooq, Chairman of the Hurriyat (M) while reacting to the killings sent an ‘SoS to the entire humanity’.
