BJP seeks apology from Mehbooba over her remark on harassment to militants’ families
Srinagar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday sought an apology from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on her remark over ‘harassment to families of militants’ in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
BJP senior leader and former deputy chief minister Kavinder Gupta said, “glorifying militants ahead of elections is unbecoming of Mehbooba Mufti who has held the position of chief minister and also the head of the Unified Headquarters (UHQ).”
Gupta added, “Today she is supporting militants but while in power she used to talk against stone pelting youth and her remark “had they gone to buy toffee and milk” is still a point of debate among the people in Kashmir. Why this double speak and double standards in politics? Why not apology for such an irresponsible remark?”
Earlier, Mehbooba Mufti had appealed to Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik to take action against police officials involved in the incident of physical abuse of a suspected militant’s sister.

Mufti had alleged that the woman was stripped and beaten up by Jammu and Kashmir police and warned of “dangerous consequences” if harassment of militants’ families is not stopped.
She had said that such incidents would not be tolerated.
