Delhi Police arrests two Kashmiris, claims they were militants procuring weapons from NCR
Police says that due to ‘difficulty in arranging small weapons in JK’ militants were procuring the same from NCR
Srinagar: The Delhi Police Special Cell has said that they have arrested ‘two Kashmiri militants’ from New Delhi. The police has claimed that the two arrested people were in touch with Hizb Militant, Syed Naveed Mushtaq alias Naveed Babu.
Detailing the arrests in a press release, the Delhi Police said that a team of Special Cell/New Delhi Range (NDR) led by Inspector Satish Rana, Sunil Rajain & Ravinder Joshi under the supervision of Lalit Mohan, Hridaya Bhushan and Govind Sharma, ACP/Special Cell, Lodhi Colony, New Delhi with Shopian Police of J&K apprehended two militants of HM.
The two have been identified by the police as, “Kifayatullah Bukhari s/o Mehrajuddin Bukhari r/o Now Pora Bara, Shopian, J&K and a juvenile in conflict with law, at a special Naka setup near village Narwaw in the area of PS Shopian. A Team of Special Cell was also present at the Naka for identification.”
A case vide FIR No. 07/2019 was registered at PS Shopian, J&K under section 307 Ranbir Penal Code, 7/25 IA Act, 16(B), 18 ULA(P) Act in this regard.
The police has said that, “during the onset of this year, a specific input was received by Special Cell regarding movement of HM militants in NCR for procuring sophisticated small weapons. It has been learnt that small weapons for executing target killing are difficult to arrange in J&K and the HM militants are procuring the same from NCR. Information was rece
The police claims to have recovered one pistol and 14 live cartridges.
The arrested militants were allegedly in contact with Naved Mustaq, an ex-constable, also known as Naveed Babu, a resident of Nazneenpora of Shopian, South Kashmir. He had joined J-K police in 2012 and was serving as a police constable before joining militants. He decamped with four weapons in 2017 and is the district commander of HM.
