Compulsion of killing militants shouldn’t be treated as a cause for celebration, says Omar
Srinagar: National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah while reacting to Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, GoC-in-C Northern Command’s comment that 2018 was a ‘remarkable year’, said that ‘the compulsion of killing militants/terrorists shouldn’t be treated as a cause for celebration.’
In a tweet, the Former CM said:

“More than 250 militants were killed, 54 others arrested and four others have surrendered,” he said, adding, “This speaks about the strength of our security establishment,” Lt Gen Ranbir Singh had said.
He said that the army was giving “befitting reply” to Pakistan army along the Line of Control whenever there were instances of any ceasefire violation or sniping.

“As per wireless and other intercepts, Pakistan army and militants suffered a huge loss in our retaliatory action.”
Recently, The Jammu and Kashmir Coalition of Civil Society in their annual report said that the year 2018 was the deadliest year of the last decade in Indian administered Kashmir as violence peaked during the year resulting in the killing of at least 586 people in different incidents of violence, which is highest in the last decade.
The Armed Forces have called the operation against militants in Kashmir as ‘Operation All-Out’. However, recently, Governor of JK Satya Pla Malik said that there was nothing like Operation All-Out.
“Some people are using this wrong term. We want these children (militants) to come back and we are ready to do what we can do for them,” he had said.
However, the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) termed the assertions of Governor as far from realityand stated that Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Indian army chief General Bipin Rawat have time and again claimed that anti-militancy operations in Jammu and Kashmir were being carried out under “Operation All-Out.”
JRL in a statement said that as per the figures available with the resistance camp, 2018 witnessed worst ever rights violations in Kashmir in recent past, as 355 armed youth were martyred while as 161 civilians were also martyred.
