Forest official dies on spot after car hit by Army vehicle in Handwara, protests erupt

Srinagar: A forest official died on spot after an army vehicle hit his car in Handwara leading to protests in the area.

Reports said that an army vehicle hit a car at Chowgal area of Handwara, which resulted in on-spot death of assistant director forest protection force Handwara Ajaz Rasool Wani.

An official said Wani was declared dead on arrival at Chowgal hospital. After the incident, the locals took to the streets and blocked Sopore-Kupwara road as a mark of protest.

However, police reached the spot and fired some tear gas shells to disperse the protesters.
