WATCH: Man accused of lynching Akhlaq to death in Dadri for ‘storing beef’ seen cheering for CM Yogi in BJP rally
Men who have been accused of beating a Muslim man to death in 2015 over ‘beef rumours’ in Uttar Pradesh’s Dadri were seen in Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s campaign rally in Bisada village on Sunday.
Mohammad Akhlaq’s alleged killers are out on bail and one of them was seen cheering for the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and chanting “Yogi Yogi” loudly along with his friends.

On September 28, 2015, fifty five-year-old Akhlaq, a resident of Bisada village, was lynched by a mob on suspicion of slaughtering a cow and storing its meat. Ikhlaq’s son Danish was also brutally beaten up. Eighteen people were arrested after the incident.
Later, they got bail from the Allahabad High Court. Akhlaq’s family, after some time, shifted to Delhi to stay with Ikhlaq’s elder son Sartaj, who had been provided a government accommodation by his employer – the Indian Air Force.
The UP government later provided the family a flat in Greater Noida, but they continue to live in Delhi. Akhlaq’s family members have not visited Bisada in the last two years and their house in the village remains locked.
Raising the incident at the rally, Yogi Adityanath said, “Who doesn’t remember what happened in Bisara? Everybody knows it. How shamefully the Samajwadi Party government tried to suppress the sentiments then. I can say as soon as our government was formed we got all illegal slaughter houses stopped in one go and ensured its strict implementation.”
Adityanath accused the SP and BSP government in the past of “dividing people on the basis of caste”.
