Rahul’s offer to resign suicidal not only for his party but all social, political forces battling Sangh parivar: Lalu Prasad

Rahul Gandhi’s offer to step down as Congress president will be suicidal not only for his party but for all social and political forces battling against the Sangh parivar, Lalu Prasad, RJD leader and former Bihar chief minister has said.

“It will amount to falling into the BJP’s trap. The moment someone else beyond the Gandhi-Nehru family replaces Rahul, the Narendra Modi-Amit Shah brigade will paint the new leader as a ‘puppet’ remote-controlled by Rahul and Sonia Gandhi. They will play on it till the next general election,” Lalu said.

On the congress suffering a deafest Lalu has said that “it is a fact that the Opposition has lost the election against the Modi-led BJP. All the Opposition parties engaged in replacing the communal and fascist forces should accept it as their collective failure and introspect on what went wrong.”

The reason for the defeat is not far to seek, he said in an article published by the telegraph.

“The Opposition parties had the common goal to dislodge the BJP but failed to build a national narrative,” he added.

The Congress Working Committee has not accepted the resignation of Rahul Gandhi who offered to resign after the humiliating defeat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Amid rumours of the party brass unwilling to put the onus entirely on Rahul Gandhi, the Congress Working Committee (CWC) met in the national capital on Saturday morning where he announced his decision, reported the India Today.

According to party insiders, the top leadership of Congress has rejected Rahul Gandhi’s resignation.

Top Congress leaders from across the country Saturday got together to review the Lok Sabha poll drubbing, as the party’s highest decision-making body met in New Delhi.
