Srinagar: Satya Pal Malik, the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir has said that Hurriyat is ‘ready for talks with the Government’.

“It is the same Hurriyat that once were shutting their doors to government now are ready for talks,” Malik said while addressing a gathering at SKICC.

The Governor also hailed the statement of Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq against drug abuse in Kashmir.

Recently, Malik while reaching out to the Kashmiri militants, had said that they should give up arms as Govt was ready to hold talks with them.

“There is unemployment across the country but unemployed people (elsewhere) in the country do not pick up weapons against the government. There is something more here. The basic thing here is that the leaders have not told people the truth. People have been misled and shown false dreams, which will never be fulfilled,” the Governor had said at a press conference attended by all his four advisors, chief secretary and administrative secretaries of all the government departments at SKICC.
