Srinagar: Peoples United Front on Friday held a protest against the restrictions imposed on Srinagar-Jammu highway and train services in order to facilitate the Amarnath Yatra.

Scores of Peoples United Front activists led by former lawmaker Engineer Rashid assembled in press enclave holding placards and banners which read ‘We love Yatris, we hate the ban.’

Rashid said that due to the restrictions on public transport, people particularly students and business community has been affected severely.

“Due to the restrictions on the highway, people living in south Kashmir are worst affected. The vehicles are stopped on the highway which directly affects businesses in Kashmir,” he said.

He said the students do not reach the colleges, universities, and school on time. “We demand immediate revocation of orders about the restrictions highway and train services.”

On Thursday, Shah Faesal, who is also a part of the PUF, in a tweet said that those signing such orders should remember that there would be a day of reckoning.

Moreover, the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry expressed concern at the imposition of ‘unprecedented restrictions’ on civilian movement on the National Highway and the suspension of train services on the Qazigund-Banihal Sector.
