High speed internet censored across Kashmir Valley, fully barred in South Kashmir parts

Srinagar: After the Joint Resistance Leadership called for a Kashmir-wide protest shutdown on Monday to remember popular Hizbul commander Burhan Wani on his third ‘martyrdom’ anniversary, authorities suspended high speed mobile Internet facility in the valley.

Authorities on Sunday completely suspended mobile Internet facility in Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam and Shopian districts.

However data services may be restored in Valley on late Monday evening or during early Tuesday.

Officials said that the Data services were barred due to ‘security reasons’ ahead of the third anniversary of Burhan Wani’s killing. Wani was gunned down during a gunfight in Kokernag area in 2016.

Heavy deployments of armed forces have been made all along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway which passes through three south Kashmir districts of Kulgam, Anantnag, and Pulwama.
