Shopian gunfight: Two militants killed
Srinagar: At least two militants were killed in a gunfight that broke out between forces and militants in Bongam area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
The gunfight broke out following a cordon and search operation (CASO) by joint team of forces after receiving inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
The CASO was launched during the intervening night of Friday-Saturday.
Officials said that during the searches, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, which was retaliated, thus leading to the gunfight.
The identification of the killed militants is being ascertained, officials said.
