Civilian killed after Indian Armed Forces fire at his vehicle in Budgam

Srinagar: A civilian was killed after Indian Armed forces fired at him near Narbal in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday morning.

The civilian has been identified as Mehrajudin Shah son of Ghulam Mohammad Shah, a resident of Makhama village in Beerwah Budgam.

Shah was traveling in his vehicle when CRPF personnel stationed at Kawoosa Khalisa village opened fire at his car. According to News Agency GNS, several bullets hit him in the shoulder and chest area.

SSP Budgam Nagpure Amod confirmed the killing and said, “A civil vehicle fled from 2 nakas in Narbal kawoosa. Upon which CRPF party fired in which one person got injured. (He has been) shifted to hospital,” Amod said, adding, “Further details awaited.”

Eyewitnesses said Shah was shifted to SHMS hospital Srinagar in a critical condition. However, he was pronounced dead on arrival by the doctors who attended upon him at the hospital.

Dr Nazir Choudhary, medical superintendent of the SMHS hospital confirmed that the man was brought dead to the hospital.
