‘It is a cold blooded murder’, says family of civilian killed by Indian Armed forces in Budgam
Srinagar: Family of killed civilian Mehraj’udin Shah, has refuted claims of the police and paramilitary forces that the vehicle did not stop for two checkpoints after which they opened fire.
The boy’s uncle, Ghulam Hassan Shah, Assistant Sub-Inspector in Jammu and Kashmir Police, who was travelling along with Mehraj says it was a cold blooded murder.
“They are not telling the truth. We stopped our car and my identity was being checked. He was murdered in cold-blood. Police and CRPF killed him,” he said.
Earlier, SSP Budgam, Nagpure Amod had said, “a civil vehicle fled from 2 checkpoints in Narbal Kawoosa. Upon which CRPF party fired in which one person got injured. (He has been) shifted to hospital.”
Dr Nazir Choudhary, medical superintendent of the SMHS hospital had confirmed that he was brought dead to the hospital.
Mehraj was on his way to Srinagar to drop his uncle who works in the police.
“He was shot in cold blood and claims of forces that he was first asked to stop the vehicle then after ignoring directives he was fired at are an absolute lie,” a family member said.
We demand an impartial and fair judicial investigation into the matter so that those responsible for the killing are held accountable, the family member said.
Deputy Commissioner, Budgam Tariq Hussain Ganaie has said that a First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged. “Whosoever will be found responsible in the killing, will be positively taken to task,” he said.
