JNU and Jamia Millia Islamia rank among top 10 Universities in India

The fifth edition of the NIRF rankings of top 10 universities is out with Indian Institute of Sciences, Bangalore (IISc) topping the list followed by Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi (JNU) and Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi (BHU).

Jamia Millia Islamia University (JMI) is the new entrant in the NIRF rankings.

The rankings have been divided into 10 different categories- overall, universities, engineering, colleges, management, Pharmacy, medical, dental, architecture and Law.

As per the officials, this year, more than 4,000 institutions had filed in their data for the rankings. The ranks were supposed to be released in the month of April but were delayed due to the Pandemic, Covid-19.

IISc Bangalore.
JNU, New Delhi.
BHU, Varanasi.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore.
Jadavpur University, Kolkata.
University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad.
Calcutta University, Kolkata.
Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal.
Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune.
Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi/

IIT Madras has emerged as the best in the overall category. It has topped the engineering category as well.

Miranda House, Lady Shri Ram College and Hindu college, all from Delhi University, have been declared as the top three colleges in India respectively.

As per a report published by NDTV, Following are the parameters kept in vigil while awarding NIRF rankings: teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practices, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity and perception.
