Need prayers for a speedy recovery, says Shahid Afridi as tests for COVID-19 return positive
Pakistani International Cricketer and former captain of the Pakistan Cricket Team, Shahid Afridi tweeted on the micro-blogging site on Saturday that he tested positive for Coronavirus

“I’ve been feeling unwell since Thursday; my body had been aching badly. I’ve been tested and unfortunately I’m covid positive. Need prayers for a speedy recovery, InshaAllah,” the cricketer tweeted.
Shahid Afridi had started relief work to help people whose livelihood got affected due to the Coronavirus lockdown in Pakistan.
Earlier in May, he was applauded for his relief work in Balochistan where he distributed ration among 1,000 local families who were badly hit by the lockdown triggered by the Covid-19 disease, the Dawn repoted.
Afridi is the second international cricketer from Pakistan to test positive for COVID-19. Recently, former Pakistan opener Taufeeq Umar had also tested positive for COVID-19.
Earlier this week, The World Health Organisation recommended Pakistani authorities to reimpose ”intermittent lockdowns” of targeted areas to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus, stating the country did not meet the global body’s conditions for lifting restrictions.
The Pakistani Government lifted lockdown on May 9 citing economic pressures as a reason.
Pakistan’s COVID-19 cases reached 1,32,405 after a record 6,472 new infections were detected in the last 24 hours, while 88 more people succumbed to the coronavirus, pushing the death toll to 2,551, the Pakistani health ministry said on Saturday.
