Landslide in Kangan

Srinagar: The Srinagar-Leh highway remained closed for the second consecutive day on Saturday following a massive landslide in Bonibagh area of central Kashmir’s Kangan a day ago.

An official said that the road was blocked on Friday after a massive landslide hit Bonibagh area, resulting in complete damage of a shopping complex and two residential houses.

The incident has hampered the traffic as the movement on Srinagar-Leh road was closed on a second consecutive day today.

Officials said that Border Roads Organization (BRO) has already pressed their men and machinery into the service to clear the road.

Earlier on Friday, two residential houses and a shopping complex were damaged after a massive landslide hit Kangan area. Besides damage, the landslide led to the suspension of the traffic on the strategic thoroughfare.
