JK reports fresh 615 COVID infections, 9,928 recovered so far

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Sunday said that 615 new positive cases of novel Coronavirus were reported on Sunday thus taking the total number of positive cases in J&K to 17,920.

Officials said that seven COVID deaths were also reported – 1 from Jammu division and 6 from Kashmir.

Moreover, 411 more COVID patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 41 from Jammu Division and 370 from Kashmir.

According to the daily COVID bulletin, out of 17920 positive cases, 7680 are Active Positive, 9928 have recovered and 312 have died; 23 in Jammu division and 289 in Kashmir.

The Bulletin further said that out of 581707 test results available, 563787 samples have been tested as negative till July 26, 2020.

Additionally, till date, 3,54,869 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 44,429 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 12 in Hospital Quarantine, 7,680 in hospital isolation and 40180 under home surveillance.

Besides, 2,62,256 persons have completed their surveillance period.

According to the bulletin, of the total 17920 positive cases in JK 3,977 have been reported as travellers while 13943 as others.

The bulletin has informed the people that best way to protect themselves from COVID is by maintaining a physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol-based hand sanitiser or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene.

As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.

The administration has also evacuated about 2,63,579 JK residents, stranded in other parts of the country due to COVID lockdown, via Lakhanpur and through special trains and buses till date amid strict observance of all necessary guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.

As per the official data received in this regard, the administration has received 95 special trains at Jammu and Udhampur railway stations from different states and UTs, so far, with about 79,968 passengers while about 1,83,611 persons from other states and UTs including 901 from abroad have been evacuated by the government through Lakhanpur till date.

As per the detailed breakup of the figures, about 2195 stranded passengers have entered through Lakhanpur from July 25 to July 26 mornings while 769 passengers have reached today in the 74th Delhi COVID special train at Jammu.

So far, 74 trains have reached Jammu with a total of 64,272 stranded passengers belonging to different districts while 15,696 passengers have reached Udhampur in 21 special trains, so far.
