eTrolley: Digital alternatives for grocery shopping come up in locked-down Kashmir

Posted on

Srinagar: As COVID cases in Kashmir continue to rise amidst strict measures of lockdown, digital alternatives have come up in the Valley to ease the sufferings of the local consumers.

One such venture is eTrolley. The e-store has been specifically designed to meet local needs of the consumers in Kashmir.

Launched in April this year, the store has been delivering essentials and other commodities to the doorsteps of the consumers.

The owners say they decided to launch the venture amid severe COVID lockdown, “when restrictions on people’s movement due to corona-virus have left people stuck inside their homes”.

“The eTrolley provides home-delivery of each and every essential commodity used in our homes and kitchens. Customers don’t have to move out and expose themselves to the threat of coronavirus. They order online for their products and we deliver it at their doors,” says Rouf Wani, who is the Co-founder and CTO of the company.

The idea of eTrolley emerged between two friends Junaid Rashid and Rouf Wani who are running couple of ventures in U.A.E

“We were concerned about the threat posed by Coronavirus to our families and society. It was at this point of time that we gathered our resources back in Kashmir and thought to give it a start,” says Junaid Rashid, the CEO of the Company.

The startup has included a wide range of products and services to their stock ranging from groceries, home and kitchen appliances, food items, books and bakery.

On their website, the store has brought together various business outlets ranging from bookshops to cafes and restaurants. It has partnered with Just Baked, Chickblast, 14th Avenue Cafe and Grill, Gulshan Book Depot and many other stores—bringing it all in one place.

The orders can be placed through multiple ways, either by calling, Messages, Whatsapp, web-portal and even from the store’s Playstore application.

From expanding their goods’ base to bring changes in web-portal and application, eTrolley has been constantly taking feedback of the consumers into consideration to enhance the shopping experience of its users.

In a span of three months and with erratic internet, E-trolley has successfully managed to have a huge client base in Srinagar and soon plans to expand it services to other districts of Central Kashmir, followed by South and North Kashmir.
