JK reports 590 new COVID infections, 407 deaths so far

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Monday informed that 590 new COVID cases have been reported in JK, thus taking the total number of positive cases to 22006.

The administration also informed that 11 fresh COVID deaths were reported today- 2 from Jammu division and 9 Kashmir.

Moreover, 905 more COVID patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals- 160 from Jammu and 745 from Kashmir.

According to the daily media bulletin, out of 22006 positive cases, 7567 are Active Positive, 14032 have recovered and 407 have died.

The bulletin further said that out of 662941 test results available, 640935 samples have been tested as negative till August 03, 2020.

Additionally, till date, 374160 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 45286 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 7567 in isolation and 41640 under home surveillance. Besides, 279260 persons have completed their surveillance period.

The administration said that it has evacuated about 2,81,351 JK residents, stranded in other parts of the country due to COVID lockdown, via Lakhanpur and through special trains and buses till date amid strict observance of all necessary guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.

As per the official data received in this regard, it has received 103 special trains at Jammu and Udhampur railway stations from different states and UTs, so far, with about 86,043 passengers while about 1,95,308 persons from other states and UTs including 904 from abroad have been evacuated by the government through Lakhanpur till date.
