With fresh 507 COVID infections, toll in JK mounts to 24,897

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Sunday informed that 507 new positive cases of novel Coronavirus were reported in last 24 hours, thus taking the total number of positive cases in JK to 24897.

The erstwhile state also reported 13 COVID deaths- 01 from Jammu division and 12 from Kashmir.

Moreover, 336 more patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 74 from Jammu and 262 from Kashmir.

According to the daily bulletin on COVID, out of 24897 positive cases, 7422 are Active Positive, 17003 have recovered and 472 have died- 35 in Jammu division and 437 in Kashmir.

The bulletin further said that out of 717110 test results available, 692213 samples have been tested as negative till August 09, 2020.

Additionally, till date, 391304 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 41318 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 7422 in isolation and 48442 under home surveillance. Besides, 293650 persons have completed their surveillance period.

The administration has also evacuated about 2,97,206 JK residents, stranded in other parts of the country due to COVID lockdown, via Lakhanpur and through special trains and buses till date amid strict observance of all necessary guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.

As per the official data received in this regard, the JK administration has received 109 special trains at Jammu and Udhampur railway stations from different states and UTs, so far, with about 91,420 passengers while about 2,05,786 persons from other states and UTs including 906 from abroad have been evacuated by the government through Lakhanpur till date.
