JK witnesses fresh 532 COVID infections in last 24 hours, deaths at 527

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Saturday informed that 532 new positive cases of novel Coronavirus were detected in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases in JK to 28021.

The erstwhile state also reported 07 COVID deaths, 02 from Jammu and 05 from Kashmir.

Moreover, 734 more COVID patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 130 from Jammu and 604 from Kashmir.

According to the daily bulletin, out of 28021 positive cases, 6818 are Active Positive, 20676 have recovered and 527 have died; 41 in Jammu division and 486 in Kashmir.

The bulletin further said that out of 785475 test results available, 757454 samples have been tested as negative till August 15, 2020.

Additionally, till date, 411618 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 42074 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 6818 in isolation and 46533 under home surveillance. Besides, 315666 persons have completed their surveillance period.

The administration also said that it evacuated about 3,15,283 JK residents, stranded in other parts of the country due to COVID lockdown, via Lakhanpur and through special trains and buses till date amid strict observance of all necessary guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.

As per the official data received in this regard, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has received 115 special trains at Jammu and Udhampur railway stations from different states and UTs, so far, with about 97,181 passengers while about 2,18,102 persons from other states and UTs including 906 from abroad have been evacuated by the government through Lakhanpur till date.

As per the detailed breakup of the figures, about 2399 stranded passengers have entered through Lakhanpur from August 14 to August 15 mornings while 983 passengers have reached today in the 94th Delhi COVID special train at Jammu. So far, 94 trains have reached Jammu with a total of 81,485 stranded passengers belonging to different districts while 15,696 passengers have reached Udhampur in 21 special trains, so far.
