666 fresh COVID cases take JK tally to 32,647, recoveries at 24,832

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has on Sunday informed that 666 new COVID cases were detected today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in JK to 32,647.

The erstwhile state also reported 9 COVID due to the virus-2 from Jammu division and 07 from Kashmir, during the last 24 hours.

Moreover, 434 more COVID patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 109 from Jammu division and 325 from Kashmir division.

According to the daily bulletin, out of 32,647 positive cases, 7198 are Active Positive, 24,832 have recovered and 617 have died; 47 in Jammu division and 570 in Kashmir division.

The bulletin further said that out of 868594 test results available, 835947 samples have been tested as negative till August 23, 2020.

Additionally, till date, 432406 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 42950 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 7198 in isolation and 42280 under home surveillance. Besides, 339361 persons have completed their surveillance period.

According to the bulletin, of the total 32647 positive cases in J&K 5924 have been reported as travelers while 26723 as others.

The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID is by maintaining a physical distance of at least 2 meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene.

The administration has also evacuated about 3,45,000 JK residents, stranded in other parts of the country due to COVID lockdown, via Lakhanpur and through special trains and buses till date amid strict observance of all necessary guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.

As per the official data received in this regard, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has received 123 special trains at Jammu and Udhampur railway stations from different states and UTs, so far, with about 105,516 passengers while about 2,39,484 persons from other states and UTs including 928 from abroad have been evacuated by the government through Lakhanpur till date.

As per the detailed breakup of the figures, about 3237 stranded passengers have entered through Lakhanpur from August 23 to August 24 mornings while 1049 passengers have reached today in the 102nd Delhi COVID special train at Jammu.

So far, 102 trains have reached Jammu with a total of 89,820 stranded passengers belonging to different districts while 15,696 passengers have reached Udhampur in 21 special trains, so far.
