Biggest feat of the gunfight was that Hizb commander Adil Hafeez was killed, says DGP

Pulwama: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh while addressing a press conference in Pulwama after three Hizb militants were killed in a gunfight in Zadoora said that it was a very successful operation because these was no collateral damage.

“The biggest feat of the gunfight was that the commander of Hizb, Adil Hafeez was killed. He was involved in militancy for a long time, and had recruited Arshad and Rouf, his two associates, who were also killed,” Dilbagh Singh said.

He had attacked a Naka party on May 22 in which Head Constable Anup Singh was killed, the DGP said.

“Then on August 12, Adil Hafeez had escaped from a gunfight after killing one armed forces personnel. He had also attacked the forces with grenades twice and done many other operations. His killing is a big relief for the people,” the DGP added.

Speaking about the operation in Shopian, the DGP said, “we want to give a chance to the militants to surrender. One militant surrendered and saved his life in the tense situation. We want to congratulate him.”

The biggest feat of the operation in Shopian, as per the DGP was the killing of Shakir Parray.

Parray, as per the DGP, was also involved in the killing of a Panch in Shopian.

“Parray who joined in 2016, was an SPO first, and then joined the police. Then he fled with four rifles and operated under many organisation and recently joined Al Badr,” Dilbagh Singh said.

Three militants and an army soldier were killed in a gunfight in Zadoora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday.

The three militants killed have been dentified as Adil Hafiz from Dalipora Pulwama, Active since August 2019, Rouf Ahmad From Muspuna, active since 1 week, Arshid Ahmad from Drabgam Pulwama, active since 1 month.

All three were affiliated with the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen

Officials said that one army personnel also received a bullet wound and was subsequently shifted to 92 Base hospital in Srinagar where he succumbed.

The gunfight in Pulwamam broke out hours after four militants were killed in Shopian, when a joint team of Police, Army’s 50RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Zadoora.

Officials said that in the operation in Shopian, four militants were killed while one “surrendered”.
