Former President of India Pranab Mukherjee passes away
Srinagar: The former president of India Pranab Mukherjee passed away on Monday after a brief illness.
Mukherjee, who served as the 13th President of India from 2012 until 2017, was hospitalised for a long time and breathed his last today at Army’s Research and Referral Hospital in Delhi.
According to reports, the condition of Mukherjee declined on this morning and he suffered a septic shock due to his lung infection.

The current President of India, Ram Nath Kovind expressed his condolence on the demise and wrote on official President of India Twitter handle: “Sad to hear that former President Shri Pranab Mukherjee is no more. His demise is passing of an era. A colossus in public life, he served Mother India with the spirit of a sage. The nation mourns losing one of its worthiest sons. Condolences to his family, friends & all citizens.”
