2 militants killed in Pattan, 2 armed forces personnel injured, gunfight on

Srinagar: Two militants were killed and two armed forces personnel including an army officer and JK personnel were injured in an ongoing gunfight in Yadipora area of Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Official sources said that another militant has been killed in an ongoing gunfight taking the toll to 02; however, their identification couldn’t be ascertained yet.

The source further said that a JK Police personnel namely Naseer Ahmad, received bullet injuries during exchange of gun fire and was subsequently shifted to SKIMS Soura hospital for specialised treatment.

Earlier, in the initial firing an army officer belonging to 29 RR was also injured. The officer was soon evacuated to 92 Base hospital for treatment.

The gunfight began after a joint team of Police, Army’s RR 29 and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Yadipora.

As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off a gunfight.
