‘Pakistan, China planning against India’, says BSF chief amid escalating tensions in Ladakh

Srinagar: Amid the escalating tensions between India and China over border disputes in Ladakh, Director General of Border Security Force (BSF) Rakesh Asthana, who is on three day visit to review the situation along Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri and Poonch sector, said that “Paksitan and China are panning against India”.

According to the reports, despite Indian army has the operational command of the 744-km long LoC, the BSF has also been deployed to assist the former.

“On Sunday, the third day of his visit, Director General of Border Security Force, Rakesh Asthana visited various forward defence locations in Poonch and Rajouri sector and took stock of the situation. He was accompanied by SS Panwar, ADG (WC) and NS Jamwal, IG BSF, Jammu Frontier,” Hindustan Times quoted an official spokesperson of BSF as having said.

Regarding the operational preparedness and situation, the DG was briefed by various officers including ID Singh, DIG Rajouri and field commanders on the LoC.

During the meeting with officers, DG while appreciating the measures adopted by the troops while maintaining domination, emphasised on meeting the challenges more effectively.

He also urged the armed forces personnel deployed there to maintain a high standard of discipline and professionalism.

He said that since both China and Pakistan were planning against India, the role of BSF has become more important in guarding the borders. “This is a very crucial time for all, as both our neighbouring countries are planning against us. So, our role has become more important now as we are the first line of Indian defence,” the spokesperson quoted DG as saying.
