Al-Badr Chief Gani Khawaja killed in Military Operation in Sopore, says Police
‘His killing a big success for security forces’
Srinagar: Inspector General of Police Kashmir range, Vijay Kumar said that in an ensuing military operation at Tujjar Shareef Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, a major success was achieved as armed forces killed Al-Badr Chief Gani Khawaja.
“We have killed Al-Badr chief Gani Khawja in the ensuing encounter at Tujjar, Sopore,” IGP Kashmir said.
He said that the killing of Al-Badr chief is a big success for the forces.
Earlier, reports said that a joint team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Tujjar.
“As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off an gunfight,” an official said.
