Students demand release of detained student from Pulwama

Pulwama: After a long spell of silence, stone pelting took place at Government Degree College in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday. According to eyewitnesses, the protestors hurled stones while police used tear gas shells.

A Senior Police Official told Free Press Kashmir that an Over Ground Worker, enrolled in the institution, was brought for the exam by the police, and students pelted stones on the forces near Degree College Pulwama.

The arrested student is identified as Suhail Ahmad Wagay Son of Ghulam Mohd Wagay resident of Sirnoo Pulwama.

Witnesses told Free Press Kashmir that one student was thrashed by teachers, and was shifted to the hospital.

Principle GDC boys Pulwama told Free Press Kashmir that the police did not enter the premises of the institution.

Three students have been arrested by the police for stone pelting and a Fir No: 66/2021 U/S 307, 353,149, 148 was lodged in IPC Pulwama.

A senior police official said, “the situation is calm at the moment and more troops are deployed to avert any untoward incident”.
