Cop shot dead in Srinagar’s Saidapora

Srinagar: Unidentified gunmen on Thursday evening shot dead a policeman in Saidapora area of central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.

Official sources said that a policeman identified as Javeed Ahmad Kambey, son of Ghulam Muhammad Kanday of Saidapora was shot at by unidentified gunmen near his residence.

They said that Khandey sustained grievous injuries and was immediately shifted to SKIMS Soura in critical condition. However, Khanday succumbed to his injuries on his way to the hospital.

Meanwhile, the area has been cordoned off by the armed forces personnel and searches are going on.
