Military operation against militants starts in south Kashmir, says police
Shopian: Military operation against militants has started in Shirmal area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday.

Official sources said that a joint team of Police, Army, and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Shirmal village following the inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
As the joint team of armed forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering the operation.
Official sources also confirmed the exchange of firing between militants and armed forces. As this report was being filed intermittent exchange of fire was going on.
