New Delhi: Indian news anchor Arnab Goswami was once again left red-faced when his “intelligence sources” regarding Pakistan government officials’ “presence” in Afghanistan’s Panjshir valley backfired.

Goswami, who is also the editor-in-chief of Republic TV, became the fodder of countless memes being shared on social media.

In a debate show, Goswami said the “fifth floor of Serena Hotel in Kabul, Afghanistan is being occupied by Pakistani officers.”

He further added that the “Pakistani ISI agents are staying there to fight in the Panjshir valley.”

Goswami had invited political analyst and PTI spokesperson Abdul Samad Yaqoob — to represent Pakistan.

After being questioned about his sources by Yaqoob in the show, Arnab stormed out saying: “I can also maybe tell you what they ordered for dinner so don’t question my intelligence sources.”

In a reply to this statement, Yaqoob rectified Arnab’s fake news and said: “the hotel doesn’t even consist of the third floor and there are only two floors in that very hotel.”

After the video went viral on various social media sites, users slammed the Indian anchor for spreading the fake news. Here’s how Twitter reacted to it:

Pertinently, this is not the first time that the Indian anchor was caught lying during the show. Goswami is notorious for his war-mongering and aggressive journalism.

He was earlier arrested in connection with the TRP scam case against him in Mumbai. The CEO of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India Partho Dasgupta had told Mumbai Police that he received $12,000 from Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami for two separate holidays and a total of Rs 40 lakh over three years, for manipulating ratings in favour of the news channel.
