Two militants killed in Feripora Shopian, operation on, says Police

12 including 5 armed forces personnel killed in last 30 hours

Shopian: Two militants have been killed in a military operation by armed forces against militants in Feripora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

A senior police officer told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that two militants have been killed whose identification is being ascertained while the operation is on in the area.

Earlier, an official said that a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.

Pertinently, 12 persons including seven militants and 5 soldiers were killed in five separate military operations in J&K in last 30 hours

Two militants one each in Anantnag and Bandipora were killed while as five armed forces personnel were killed in Poonch forests on Monday.

On Tuesday morning, three militants were killed in a military operation in Tulran Imamsahib area of Shopian—(KNO)
