Poonch gunfight: Army personnel killed, traffic on highway stopped

Poonch: An army personnel was killed in a military operation launched by armed forces against militants in Bhata Dhurian village near Bhimber Gali area of Poonch.

The area where the military operation was launched is part of a forest pocket that runs through Dehra Ki Gali where a military operation started on Monday morning in which five army personnel were killed.

Officials said that in Bhata Dhurian village of Poonch, located near Bhimber Gali Army installation, operation was launched on Thursday morning and teams of Army and police were conducting intensive searches in the area when the gunfight broke out in which one army man was killed.

They further stated that there are also reports about the injuries to a few other army men. However, there was no confirmation in this regard.

The authorities have stopped vehicular traffic on Jammu-Poonch NHW near BG in Mendhar—(KNO)
