Srinagar: The family members of two civilians Altaf Ahmad Dar and Mudasir Gul, who were killed in Hyderpora military operation late last evening, urged the authorities to return the bodies of their loved ones so that they are able to perform a proper burial.

Notably, the Police said that Mudasir Gul was a militant associate and was involved in militancy, while Altaf was the house owner and both were killed in “cross firing” during the military operation.

Meanwhile, families of both the civilians held a protest at press enclave Srinagar and demanded that the bodies of their loved be returned back for a proper burial, who as per the police were buried in Handwara “keeping in view the law and order situation”.

Talking to reporters at press enclave Srinagar, mother of Mudasir Gul said that her son was a doctor and he had no links with the militants.

“He was not an OGW he was just a doctor and was earning for his family,” she said.

She said that they want his body to perform his last rites. “My son was innocent, Why was he killed. What was his crime?” she questioned.

“We appeal to the authorities to give us his body. We want nothing now except his body,” she said.

“We didn’t know anything about it and police informed us that they had sent his body to Handwara. We were extremely devastated at that time. We beg to the authorities to give us his body”, said family members of Mudasir.

Meanwhile, sister of Altaf Ahmad said that yesterday morning Altaf left his home after breakfast and after that in the evening they came to know about his killing.

“We demand his body to perform his last rites. He was an innocent and he had no links with any militant,” she said.

She said that Altaf has two young children, a ten-year-old daughter and a five-year-old son.

“We want justice. My brother has been killed in a cold-blooded murder,” she alleged.

She said that he used to work in Delhi and would come to the valley for spending time with his family.

“He had come from Jammu two days back, so how was he linked with militants. All the claims of police are false. Altaf had no links with any militant or militant outfits. He had his office in that building and he had no links with the militants,” she added.

She said that he is dead now and they only want his body back. “We want justice now. We urge the authorities to give us his body back so that we can perform his last rites properly,” she said. (KNS)
