NC members protest outside Parliament, demand probe into Hyderpora, Rambagh killings
New Delhi: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) parliamentarians on Monday staged a protest outside Parliament of India demanding a time-bound judicial probe into the Hyderpora and Rambagh killings.
The NC members including Dr Farooq Abdullah, Muhammad Akbar Lone, and Husnain Masoodi also demanded the Bhartiya Janta Party led Government of India to revoke the August 5, 2019 ‘unconstitutional decision’ when the special status of Jammu and Kashmir was scrapped and the erstwhile state was divided into two union territories, and the repeal of the controversial farm laws.

In another tweet, the party said, “They also gave a short attention notice under Rule No. 193 to discuss the prevailing situation in J&K. Masoodi in his individual capacity also gave a calling attention notice for discussion on Hyderpora shootout.”
The parliamentarians while holding placards and the photographs of the slain and sought immediate intervention from the Government of India.
In Rambah, as per the Jammu and Kashmir police, three militants were killed in an “encounter”. However, contrary to the police’s version, eyewitnesses claim that all of them were unarmed and were thrown out of a car and shot dead.
The families of the civilians Mohammad Altaf Bhat, Muddasir Gul, and Amir Ahmed, killed in Hyderpora, also deny all the police allegations and maintain that they were “civilians and killed in a staged encounter”.
The bodies of Altaf and Gul were first buried by police at Handwara graveyard and after massive outcry followed by protests by the families of the slain duo, their bodies were exhumed and later handed over to the families for the last rites late on Thursday evening.
The probe has already been ordered by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, and is being conducted by the ADC Srinagar. ADC has issued a notice inviting witnesses for recording their statements.
The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir has promised the public that the probe will be conducted in a time-bound manner.
Pertinently, the family of the third slain identified as Amir Ahmed of Banihal has also demanded the return of the body of their son, who was working as an office boy at slain Gul’s office.
