Two arrested on espionage charges in JK’s Rajouri, say officials

Rajouri: Armed forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district arrested two persons for allegedly sharing secret information about armed forces establishments.

The duo, who belong to a single family are residents of Nowshera village. One of them was working as a porter with the Indian army.

Officials said that on some specific, a joint team of Army and police headed by SHO Rajouri Sameer Jillani intercepted the duo and put them to questioning during which it was found that they were in touch with some handlers and were sharing videos and other information of some forces establishments of Rajouri.

They said that both of them have been arrested formally in a case registered in Rajouri Police Station while the team headed by SHO Rajouri Sameer Jillani is further investigating the matter.

More arrests of people involved in this espionage cannot be ruled out, they added.

One report suggests that the duo identified as Nazir Hussain and Mohammed Mukhtar is accused of taking videos of vital and sensitive forces installations and sharing them with their handlers outside the country in lieu of money.

Quoting officials, the report said that they had shot a video clip in the Army premises (erstwhile tactical headquarters of Rashtriya Rifles) on a mobile phone.
