‘Lights installed, cordon layers tightened’

Shopian: Another armed forces personnel have received injuries in an ongoing military operation against militants in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, taking the toll of injured personnel to three, officials said on Wednesday.

Officials said that three armed forces personnel have received injuries while the operation is going on in Nowgam Check area of the district.

The three personnel belonging to the Indian army’s 34 Rashtriya Rifles were later shifted to 92 Base Hospital in Badami Bagh Srinagar for treatment.

The military operation, as per officials, started after a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

Meanwhile, officials said high-beam lights have been installed in the area and the cordon layers have been further tightened. “It seems that operation may last till tomorrow morning as it is completely dark now,” the officials said.
