62 militants killed in Kashmir so far this year, says IGP

Srinagar: Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar on Thursday said that 62 militants have been killed so far this year in Kashmir Valley.

In  a tweet, he said 39 of the militants were from Lashker-e-Toiba, 15 from Jash-e-Mohammad , six from Hizb-ul-Muajhideen and  two from Al-Badr.

“Among them, 47 were locals and 15 foreign militants,” said the IGP Kashmir.

Pertinently, two local militants belonging to oufit Al-Badr were killed in a military operation in Mitrigam area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on April 27, 2022.

Inspect General of Police Vijay Kumar said that both the killed militants have been identified as Aijaz Hafiz and Shahid Ayub, 02 AK 47 rifles  have been also recovered.

The slain duo belonged to Al Badre outfit and were involved in series of attacks on outside labourers in Pulwama in the month of March-April 2022, the top cop added.
