Man killed after being attacked with blunt object in central Kashmir, 2 held

Budgam: A 25-year-old man was killed on Monday morning after he was hit by an unidentified person when he was travelling on motorcycle at Gurwaith Khansahib area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Sources said that a person was on a bike and an unidentified person hit him on his head with some blunt object leaving him critically injured.

They said the injured man was shifted to Sub-district hospital Khansahib where doctors refered him to SKIMS Srinagar for further treatment. However, the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries.

An official said that an investigation has been started into the matter and the body will give to family members after medical formalities.

Meanwhile, police in a statement said that two persons shave been arrested in connection with the murder.

“Two persons namely Tahir Bashir Khan son of Bashir Ahmed Khan and Hilal Ahmed Lone son of Abdul Ganie Lone, both residents of Kachwari Khansaib, have been arrested in connection with the death of a person identified as Fayaz Ahmed Najar son of Abdul Rashid Najar resident of Gurwaith Khansaib,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.

“The deceased was hit on his head by the two accused persons at Kachwari,” he said, adding, “Accordingly he was taken to SKIMS in a critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries.”

He said a case (FIR 60/2022) was registered at Police Station Khansahib under section 302 IPC and an investigation was set into motion.

However, police have so far not revealed the reason(s) as to why the duo attacked the youth.
