Military operation against militants starts in south Kashmir, says police

A military operation against militants has started in Nowpora Mir Bazaar area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday, police said.

Police officials said that a joint team of police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Mir Bazaar following input about the presence of militants in the area.

A senior police officer also confirmed an exchange of firing between militants and armed forces.
