Kashmiri Pandit shot dead, brother injured in south Kashmir’s Shopian: Police

Shopian: A Kashmiri Pandit was shot dead, while his brother was injured in Chotigam area of Shopian district on Tuesday, police said.

An official said that militants fired upon two brothers identified as Sunil Kumar and Pintu Kumar sons of Arjun Nath Kumar in Chotigam area, resulting in on spot death of Sunil, while Pintoo was injured.

He said that Pintu has been shifted to hospital for treatment, while the area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.

This is one of the many attacks Kashmir witnessed in the last 24 hours.

On Monday evening, police said a civilian was injured after suspected militants hurled a grenade in Gobalpora Chadoora in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Police officials said that a civilian identified as Karan Kumar (20) son of Anil Kumar, a resident of Gopalpora area of Chadoora, was injured in the attack.

“Terrorists hurled a grenade in Gopalpora Chadoora area of Budgam in which one civilian namely Karan Kumar Singh got injured. He has been shifted to Srinagar hospital for treatment where his condition is stated to be stable. Area cordoned off. Further details shall follow,” Police Tweeted on Monday evening.

Kumar with multiple splinter injuries was immediately shifted to SMHS hospital in Srinagar for treatment. His condition is stated to be ‘stable’ and is under treatment, officials added.
