Man arrested for raping minor in Srinagar, says police
Srinagar: A man was arrested for raping a minor in the Srinagar district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, police said.
According to Srinagar police, the accused Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ghulam Nabi Sheikh, a resident of Zewan Khunmoh was arrested for raping a minor girl of Maloora (name withheld), four days ago.
“He was absconding after the crime,” police said. A case under FIR No 24/2022 under relevant sections of IPC and POSCO was registered earlier in this regard.
Meanwhile, Srinagar police in a tweet said, “One accused namely Aijaz Ahmad sheikh S/o Ghulam Nabi sheikh R/o Zewan, Khunmoh arrested for raping a minor girl of Maloora (name withheld), 4 days ago. He was absconding after the crime.A case under FIR No 24/2022 under relevant sections of IPC & POSCO act was already registered”.
