Military operation against militants underway in Shopain, says police

Srinagar: A military operation against militants is underway in Baskushan Imamsahib area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

A senior police officer said that a team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Baskushan this morning after receiving specific input about the presemce of militants in the area.

As the joint team approached towards the suspected area, the hiding militants fired upon them triggering the operation, the official said.

Till this report was being filed intermittent exchange of fire was going on.
