‘Go to Pakistan’: Bihar college denies entry to Muslim students wearing hijab, forced to leave without exam

Muzaffarpur: Muslim students in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur staged a protest after college authorities denied entry to those wearing hijab.

The students of Mahant Darshan Das Mahila (MDDM) College said that objectionable remarks were made when they refused to take off the hijab before appearing for the intermediate sent-up examinations.

The videos of the same, viral on social media, show a group of teachers not allowing the students to sit for exams as they were wearing the hijab.

One of the students said some girls had come to MDDM College to appear for the intermediate sent-up exams wearing hijab. On entering the classroom, a teacher, Ravi Bhushan, asked them to remove the hijab as he suspected that the girls might be hiding some bluetooth device under their head scarves.

The girls reportedly asked the teacher to call a female guard and get them checked. They even told him that if the guard found any objectionable material on anyone, then that person would leave without giving the examination.

The students alleged that the teacher did not pay heed to their demand and insisted that they remove the hijab before appearing for the examination.

The students said one teacher, Shashi Bhushan, called the students “anti-national”. “He started saying that you live here and you sing there. Just go to Pakistan,” alleged the students, India Today reported.

Infuriated with the objectionable remarks made by the teacher, the students left without taking the exam and staged a protest outside the college gate.
