SIT formed to probe killing of two civilians outside army gate in JK’s Rajouri, say officials

Rajouri: A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed by the Range Police Headquarters (RPHQ) to probe the recent killings of two civilians outside army gate along Poonch-Rajouri highway, officials said.

Official said that a SIT has been constituted by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Rajouri Poonch range, Dr. Haseeb Mughal to the recent killings.

“SIT will work under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri Muhammad Aslam and will be headed by Deputy SP Headquarters Rajouri Chanchal Singh while it’s members will be Inspector Danish Maqbool, PSI Jatinder Sharma, and two Head Constables,” they said.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been asked to update day to day progress of the investigation with Range Police Headquarters.

Sources said that the team will investigate the incident of firing that took place at Alfa gate army camp in Phalyana area of Rajouri town in which two local men Surinder Kumar and Kamal Kumar, both residents of ward 15 Phalyana, got killed while Anil Kumar from Uttrakhand got injured and is under treatment in GMC Rajouri.

Massive protests had rocked the Rajouri town areas after the incident. (KNO)
